The Jazz Truck

As in 2023, the Jazz Truck is not bringing shipping containers to the harbour but will instead be presenting fresh newcomers with the support of Haspa Music Foundation and Jazzbüro Hamburg. Here is the full line-up:

Bluff

"Bluff is already part of our future," said no one less than the famous Nils Landgren about this young quartet. Elegant melodies, great dynamic arcs - the four musicians from Hamburg prove that they come very close to US role models such as Ambrose Akinmusire. The most beautiful melancholic trumpet sounds included.

Røkost

The latest project by Hamburg trumpeter and composer Michel Schroeder ventures into electronic realms, with the bandleader supported by Marta Winnitzki on keys, Christian Müller on bass and Leon Saleh on drums. The sound can be described as “Electronic Experimental Punk Jazz”, a mix of modified trumpet sounds, synthesizers, techno grooves and jazz elements.

Monokrom

Seeing bands before they become big - ELBJAZZ is a good place to do that. Monokrom are pretty fresh - four friends who call their music "melodic vocal techno". Their concerts are structured like a good DJ set, slowly building up to ecstasy. Only it doesn't come from a tape, but is played - with vocals, keyboards, bass and drums.

Hedwig Janko Trio

Hedwig Janko on the alto and soprano saxophone, Melanie Streitmatter on bass and Leo Kröger on drums play in a minimalist trio line-up without harmony instruments. True to the motto “Less is more”, as well as programmatic titles such as “Of Homes And Distances”, the audience is quickly picked up by this lyrical music and is welcomed with open arms.

Cosmic Latte

They call themselves “Baristas from Space” on their website and add immediately: “We are not a hip coffee shop.” But Cosmic Latte can still get your pulse pumping. The coffee specialty created by Ruben Roeh on guitar, Tim Steiner on bass and Burkard Ruppaner on drums impresses with a base of fusion and progressive, mixed with catchy choruses and infectious grooves.

Weather Report Project

They are considered the epitome of jazz-rock: driven by the gifted Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter, Weather Report reached new peaks in the seventies. One of the best bands of all time, four experienced musicians from Hamburg are now paying tribute to them and bringing their spirit to Elbjazz: "A Tribute to the World's Greatest Fusion Band".
