WATCH OUT! HERE COMES THE YOUNG HAMBURG JAZZ SCENE

 

Watch out! Here comes a snappy wave with the best that Hamburg's young jazz scene has to offer. As every year, rousing and exciting band projects with international guests board our HfMT stage on the forecourt of the Elbphilharmonie.   

With Erik van Lier, the HfMT Big Band has invited one of the most renowned European trombonists.   

TILAR makes the Elbphilharmonie forecourt glitter and invites you to travel back in time to the glittering disco era.   

The trombonist Vadims Dmitrijevs from Riga features U.S. trumpeter and Grammy winner Charlie Porter with his Qunitett.  

For his ELBJAZZ concert, Lauri Kadalipp, who also successfully writes film music, has rearranged his songs. In the guise of the HfMT Big Band, these cinematic-tinged pieces take on a whole new punch. 

Agustín Pardo is at home in different worlds. In the concert with the JazzHall Large Ensemble, South American rhythms and styles, and Brazilian music combine with powerful Big Band jazz and symphonic music.  

Tigran Tatevosyan discovered the piano at the age of six. At ELBJAZZ, the Tigran Tatevosyan Trio will also draw from the jazz and folk music of his native Armenia.  

The trio of Hamburg-based saxophonist Paul Beskers does without any harmonic instrument at all. They remain true to this minimalist concept in their collaboration with NDR Big Band trumpeter Percy Pursglove.  

HfMT alumnus Bastian Menz is an integral part of the Hamburg scene. His musical spectrum extends beyond jazz from funk to pop.  

IVYMIND and Sven Kerschek have embarked on a journey into the inner world of music.   

The Pouya Abdi Quartett has found each other at the HfMT. No risk is spared in wild playing because the four musicians can rely on each other blindly.
