ELBJAZZ 2019 OPENS WITH THE RECEPTION IN THE ELBPHILHARMONIE

It’s almost time! The ninth edition of ELBJAZZ will soon be upon us, and once again this year the festival kicks off with an opening reception that provides an opportunity for partners, supporters, media representatives and friends of ELBJAZZ to gather and network.

At 4 pm on the festival Friday, the Hamburg Senator for Culture and Media Dr Carsten Brosda, the Artistic Director Karsten Jahnke and Festival Director Alexander Schulz of ELBJAZZ GmbH, and the pianist and this year’s ELBJAZZ Artist in Residence Julia Hülsmann will welcome invited guests in the Foyer (Recital Hall) of the Elbphilharmonie.

Following that, at 5 pm, the musical side of ELBJAZZ 2019 is also launched -with a memorial concert for the late vibraphonist Wolfgang Schlüter in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall and, at the same time, a performance by the entertainer and pianist Joja Wendt on the main stage of the second festival centre Blohm+Voss.
