EMIL BRANDQVIST TRIO

Drummer and composer Emil Brandqvist out of Gothenburg and his loyal collaborators for six albums, Max Thornberg (double bass) and Tuomas A. Turunen (piano), take listeners on a treasure hunt on their latest album "Layers of Life". This initially leads through Nordic jazz soundscapes, characterized by unpretentious floating and epic condensation. And the trio always manages to retain an exciting note that defies the cliché of Scandinavian monotony: as pleasant as this sound may seem, it increasingly shows the listener what is taken for granted, so that the treasure that is ultimately unearthed consists of questioning the familiar.
