Duty Free focuses entirely on the original compositions of quartet founder Timon Krämer. The visionary bassist gives his fellow musicians Rafael Müller on drums, Aydın Bayramoğlu on piano and Benjamin Stanko on trumpet and flugelhorn complete freedom to improvise. Inspired by groove-oriented jazz, the musicians unfold their joy of experimentation in a creative way of playing between sometimes balladic, sometimes rhythmically rousing sounds, with hints of swing, modal jazz and Latin groove also mixed in. In addition, the sound of the band reflects the fact that the four musicians have been playing together in various formations for many years - and makes their trusting friendship resound.
