Hans Lüdemann - Piano Solo
Hans Lüdemann performed with his trio Ivoire at ELBJAZZ in 2015 – this time he’s coming alone. The pianist has studied with the world’s best jazz musicians, toured with very different formations and played a homage to Keith Jarrett’s “Köln Concert” in the Cologne Opera House. As one of “Europe’s most unconventional and expressive pianists” (Jazzpodium), Lüdemann is always looking to tease unfamiliar sounds from his instrument.
On his new album Beyond the tones (Das volltemperierte Klavier), he adds samples to the sound of the piano. Electronic sound possibilities allow the Hamburg-born musician to play with microtonal intervals, but his main focus is the acoustic piano. Performed live, Hans Lüdemann’s compositions effect an intoxicating pull: at various times abstract, bluesy and lyrical.
