China Moses

Jazz Soul Vocal

From early on music has been playing an important role in China Moses’ life. The singer’s mother is Dee Dee Bridgewater, one of the outstanding vocalists in jazz, and her father is the director Gilbert Moses. Just like her mother China is blessed with a powerful voice which allows her to express herself in completely different genres. The album “Nightintales”, which was released this year, is quite exemplary for the wide variability of the Afro-American, who is living in Paris now. The record is sporting relaxed and lascivious numbers like “Put It On The Line”, funk songs like “Disconnected”, soul-jazz ballads like “Nicotine” and swinging doo-wop like “Blame Jerry”. All of them are written by the 39 years old artist.

China Moses has become known in 2008 with “This One’s For Dinah”, which is an homage for her revered idol, Dinah Washington. In the meantime, China Moses herself has become a highly acclaimed soul and jazz diva with a style of her own. And “Nightintales” is sure one of the greatest vocal jazz albums this year!
